Meal Plans
All new freshmen living in Residence Halls must be on the 18 or 14 traditional meal plan or 210 or 160 block meal plan; meal plans are optional for students living in college-owned apartments and houses. Students living off-campus are not assigned a meal plan unless they request one in writing.
All undergrads living in college-owned housing (apartments, houses or residence halls) automatically receive an 18-meal plan for the fall semester, unless they request a different option. Students may request a meal plan or make a meal plan change until 4:30 p.m. on the Friday of the first week of classes.
The meal plan a student chooses for the fall semester automatically rolls to the spring semester unless a change is made in writing or via email. Students receive notification in October via email about making a change to their meal plan for the spring semester. Changes communicated only to the Student Accounts Office or the Wheaton Installment Program are not honored; communication must come directly to the Housing Services Office.
All students must have their ID cards scanned in order to eat in Anderson Commons.
With the 210 and 160 block plans, students can use the meals at any time during the semester (up to three blocks a day) and unused blocks can carry forward to the spring semester as long as another 210 or 160 block is purchased. Students may also use their blocks to purchase meals for family and friends. Block meals are forfeited at the end of the school year.
The 65 meal plan does not include Thunder Bucks. For undergraduate students, the 65 meals expire at the end of each semester and therefore any unused meals are forfeited. However, the 65 meals for a graduate student roll over into the spring semester. Once finished, an additional 65 plan may be purchased at any time. For graduate school students the 65 meal plan expires at the end of the academic year and any unused meals are forfeited at that time.
The Stupe is a dining option on the board plan which means that students eating lunch or dinner can use their traditional or block meals to pay for their meal at this venue. Thunderbucks and cash are also accepted in the Stupe. Sam’s is the premiere retail venue on campus with an expansion of grab-n-go offerings. Sam’s accepts Thunderbucks, Thunderbucks Plus and cash.
Thunder Bucks may be used in Anderson Commons, Sam's and the Stupe. Unused Thunder Bucks from the fall semester "roll over" and are added to the Thunder Bucks received for the spring semester meal plan. All Thunder Bucks expire at the end of the academic year.
Thunder Bucks Plus are discretionary dollars that may be added to a student’s ID card, regardless of whether the student has a formal meal plan. Thunder Bucks Plus may be used in Anderson Commons, Sam's, the Stupe, and the C-Store in lower Beamer. Thunder Bucks Plus do not expire until a student leaves Wheaton. Students may add Thunder Bucks Plus to their student ID cards at the Bon Appétit office in Anderson Commons, upper level, or the Bookstore website.
